A man has pleaded guilty to ten sexual offences after attacking an unconscious woman four times over the course of nearly a year — with her own partner enabling each assault.
Daniel Bowden, 40, formerly of Woodford Halse, Daventry, entered his guilty pleas at Northampton Crown Court on October 6, admitting to four counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault by penetration, and three counts of sexual assault.
The ten charges relate to four separate incidents that took place between July 2019 and May 2020, according to the Northamptonshire Police report.
On each occasion, Bowden visited an address in Northamptonshire and sexually assaulted a woman while she was unconscious.
A central and deeply aggravating element of the case is that the attacks were not carried out in secret — they were made possible by the victim's own partner, who facilitated Bowden's access to the woman on all four occasions.
The ten guilty pleas span three categories of offence.
Rape, the most serious, involves non-consensual penetrative sex.
Sexual assault by penetration refers to non-consensual penetration using a body part or object other than a penis.
Sexual assault covers other forms of non-consensual sexual touching.
Bowden admitted to four counts of the first, three of the second, and three of the third — all connected to the four incidents across that ten-month period.
Bowden is due to return to Northampton Crown Court for sentencing, though no date has yet been set for that hearing.
