A front-seat passenger in a Nissan Juke — a teenage boy — was killed when the car, which had been tailed by an unmarked police vehicle, struck an Audi S3 shortly after 4am on Sunday. Two other teenagers from the Nissan and the Audi's driver were taken to hospital. Officers arrested a 17-year-old at a residential address on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Avon and Somerset Police has referred itself to the IOPC.

The collision happened on the A37 Wells Road at its junction with Airport Road.

The IOPC is still considering whether to open its own investigation into the pursuit.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage to contact them on 101.
