£20m RAF jet that exploded in a fireball near an Anglesey caravan park was 'flying without its fuel cap'
Ground crew are being blamed for failing to replace the cap, which reportedly forms a 'significant part of the investigation'. The Hawk T2 was on a post-repair test flight when it went down following departure from RAF Valley on September 23. Both pilots guided it clear of buildings before ejecting, sustaining only minor injuries. The RAF said it would be 'inappropriate to comment further'.
Debris was strewn across a field at Afallon Caravan Park near Rhosneigr.
One insider asked: 'If a fuel cap can be left off, what else can be?'
