Gunman fires shots at Edinburgh pub during the wake of a gang war suspect, leaving one person injured

Mourners for Paul MacAulay, 40, reportedly gang boss Mark Richardson's 'right hand man', were drinking at the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road when shots rang out at about 9.15pm on Friday. MacAulay died weeks ago in a motorcycle crash while fleeing police. No gunman has been traced. Det Insp Dougal Begg says police are treating the shooting as targeted and 'extremely reckless'.

MacAulay was among 82 arrested in Operation Portaledge, Police Scotland's gang war crackdown.

Locals assumed the gunfire was 'fireworks' until armed police shut the road.

The incident is reportedly being described as a serious escalation, with it considered a miracle nobody was killed.
