Russia's Lavrov presented "a lot of lies" about the Ukraine war during the G20 foreign ministers' gathering in Atlanta, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, who said he showed no willingness to engage in peace talks. The two-day summit broke up without a joint communique; Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a chairman's statement in its place, recording no agreements.

Kallas blocked a group photo, saying: 'We must not normalise war crimes around this table.'

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told Lavrov directly that he should 'have the courage to tell Putin that Russia will not win this war.'

On the day the talks concluded, the US approved a $2.1 billion package of 500 Patriot PAC-3 interceptors for Ukraine.
