A Met bodyguard told Meghan to 'leave it with us' when she wanted to expose her father's alleged child abuse

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, wanted to go public about child sexual abuse allegations against her father Thomas Markle Sr, 82, in January 2019 after receiving a handwritten letter from his first wife, Roslyn Loveless, accusing him of travelling to the Philippines and Thailand because he claimed '12-year-olds are legal there'. A Royalty and Specialist Protection officer reportedly told her: 'Leave it with us, we'll investigate it' — advice that silenced her for years. The Met has now referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct and is still trying to identify the officer involved.
The letter, written by Loveless before her death in 2024, also accused Markle Sr of having sex with a child in the US.
Met chief Cressida Dick and assistant commissioner Neil Basu were kept in the dark at the time, with senior royal aides also unaware of the allegations.
Mexican Guardia Nacional officers raided Markle Sr's storage unit in Rosarito on Saturday, seizing a computer, thumb drives, VHS tapes and magazines following an FBI alert.
