'A person of difference': Warwick Davis urges acceptance amid backlash over JK Rowling's Harry Potter TV series

Warwick Davis, 56, admitted he is 'not really privy' to much of the row while on the Pride of Britain red carpet. He is reprising his role as charms professor Filius Flitwick for HBO's new adaptation. JK Rowling, the show's executive producer, has faced accusations of transphobia, which she denies. Davis said people should be accepted 'for who they are, not for what they are'.

Rowling has called self-declared gender identity 'quasi-religious' and 'anti-science'.

Masked activists lay on the Cursed Child red carpet at London's Palace Theatre.

One protester's T-shirt read 'Rowling money kills'. Davis praised the cast and crew as 'the very best of the best'.
