A SIXTH whale rescued from a shuttered Canadian theme park dies at SeaWorld San Diego just weeks after arriving

Cyprus, a nine-year-old male beluga, stopped eating on Saturday, and an ultrasound found his intestinal tract was failing. Vets at SeaWorld San Diego battled overnight but could not save him. He had arrived on August 22 from Marineland of Canada in Ontario, which closed in 2024 amid money troubles. A full necropsy is planned, with the cause to be reported to US federal regulators.

Four Marineland whales died at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium and another in València, Spain.

Fellow rescued belugas Xavier and Jasper are stable but under close monitoring.
