Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, called FBI accusations linking Pyongyang to the hack a "sinister attempt" to damage the country's public image and warned North Korea had "issues to reconsider" over what she described as US hostility. The FBI attributed the $6.3bn theft from Binance — the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange — to a state-backed group known as TraderTraitor, the same hackers blamed for a $1.5bn Bybit raid last year.

Consumer lawyer Dean Dunham KC warned British crypto investors have none of the protections that bank customers enjoy, and that a less solvent exchange suffering a similar attack could wipe out savers entirely.
