Aberdeen school renames 'Christmas cards' 'winter cards' for inclusivity, sparking fury among parents

Parents have branded Kaimhill Primary School in Aberdeen's decision to call Christmas cards 'winter cards' as "woke nonsense", after staff sent a letter insisting the new term shows "value and respect" to different cultures. The backlash was so fierce that headteacher Susie Webster sent a second email to families, calling their reaction "disappointing". One teacher reportedly received an "abusive and threatening" phone call after a screenshot of the original email spread on social media.

Parents hit back with: "Who is getting paid to destroy our customs and traditions?"

Aberdeen City Council noted the school still plans Christmas parties, carol singing, a Christmas fair and festive films — the cards alone got the rebrand.

Kaimhill's own email admitted families remain free to call them Christmas cards if they wish, prompting fury over why the change was made at all.
