Activists plan to protest against an Oxford Reform UK talk by the academic who accused Jason Arday of plagiarism

Stand Up to Racism is organising the demonstration against Nathan Cofnas's appearance at Oxford University's Oriel College on 17 November. The event is billed as 'An Evening with Nathan Cofnas: Is DEI Undermining Higher Education?'. Cofnas, who has advocated 'race realism', wrote a blog accusing Arday of plagiarism in his doctoral thesis. Arday, Cambridge's youngest ever Black professor, resigned in August.

Arday, 41, was found dead at his south London home days after quitting.

A coroner has said Arday died an 'unnatural death', and an inquest is under way.

Ghent University suspended Cofnas, then reinstated him after pressure from US ambassador Bill White.
