Advertising watchdog BANS four mobile game adverts for faking gameplay, including one showing zombie shooting scenes which never happen
An ad for Dark War Survival, one of four mobile games whose makers included Omnilojo Pte Ltd, which admitted its ads could have done more to separate cinematic scenes from real gameplay. An animated frame from a Zombie Miner: Gold Tycoon ad, whose maker Cyprus-based Vistrex Ltd argued its footage was "stylised rather than literal" before the Advertising Standards Authority ruled the playing experience differed materially.
That zombie driving an excavator across an open-world map in ads for Idle Zombie Miner: Gold Tycoon? He turns up only in a 60-second bonus round unlocked on four of the game's 194 mines, the Advertising Standards Authority found; the real thing is an idle clicker. Cyprus-based Vistrex Ltd called its footage 'stylised rather than literal', but the regulator ruled 'the playing experience differed materially'.
Scopely Inc's Pixel Flow! ad showed a pig-guiding path puzzle that does not exist in the game.
Omnilojo Pte Ltd admitted its ads 'could have done more' to separate cinematic scenes from real gameplay.
Every offending ad is barred from returning in its current form; King.com and Scopely kept second ads.
