The World Health Organization says it was never informed that Nigeria's Ebola patient had travelled to Congo. The country's first case was detected late, raising alarm across the continent. Nigerian officials insist the case remains isolated and are urging the public to stay calm. The outbreak began in Congo in May and has since spread to four other African countries.

Africa CDC has called an emergency Ebola crisis summit after Nigeria recorded its first case.

The outbreak is now the widest Ebola expansion ever recorded in Africa.

Health officials are still searching for how the virus reached the West African nation.
