Aid is set to reach Ukraine's Oleshky on Friday as Melania Trump's truce holds for a third day

Both Russia and Ukraine praised Melania Trump on Thursday for brokering the Oleshky truce, with Vladimir Putin publicly crediting "the First Lady of the United States" for enabling relief supplies to reach civilians. Around 2,000 people are believed to be still trapped in the Russian-occupied city, many reportedly starving and eating weeds, with demining of evacuation routes still under way ahead of Friday's aid delivery.
Russia's human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova escorted Newsmax journalists into Oleshky, as Ukraine's ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets confirmed 'no incidents' in over 30 hours.
The wider picture was clouded by a Russian drone strike killing 13 people aboard a commuter train at Dnipro's main station, a location outside the scope of any ceasefire agreement.
Moscow said its air defences destroyed 1,214 Ukrainian drones through the night, calling it one of Kyiv's largest-ever drone attacks, with roughly half of the strikes aimed at the capital.
