Airbnb guests will no longer have to wash dishes or strip beds at checkout under a crackdown from November 20

Holidaymakers already paying cleaning fees were still being made to scrub up before leaving, and Airbnb now admits its house rules had become 'confusing, onerous and hard to manage'. From November 20, hosts can only ask for 'reasonable' tasks, such as leaving dishes in the sink or gathering used towels. Every rule must also be listed before booking.
Hosts can no longer spring extra demands on guests through messages or signs inside the property.
House rules will be squeezed into seven set categories, including pets, smoking and quiet hours.
Hosts in bear country can still insist that rubbish goes in animal-proof bins.
