Airbnb hosts threaten to quit after the platform moves to ban them from making guests wash dishes and strip beds

One host warned the crackdown 'could potentially double my cleaners time' and her costs, and could encourage 'a vermin problem'. The rules take effect on 20 November. Guests can still be asked to leave used dishes in the sink, gather towels and sort recycling. Hosts will be barred from imposing fines, and chores cannot be slipped into the 'Requests' section instead.

One Reddit user branded the company 'like an abusive partner' and vowed: 'I'm finally out.'

Another host plans to strip rental kitchens down to 'only bare essentials'.

Airbnb says guests already pay cleaning fees and found house rules 'confusing, onerous and hard to manage'.
