Guests already pay a cleaning fee, yet many have arrived to find themselves expected to do the cleaner's work before leaving. Airbnb's new policy requires hosts to disclose every rule and request on the listing prior to booking. Any demands delivered via messages, notices posted around the property, or hidden clauses will be prohibited. House rules will be consolidated into seven standard categories, covering pets, smoking, quiet hours and more.

Hosts can still ask guests to leave dishes in the sink and sort recycling.

Exceptions apply in bear country, where rubbish must go in animal-proof bins.

Georgia hosts Cassie and Jon charged $50 for every 10 minutes of late checkout.
