Airtel Money plans £6.7bn London Stock Exchange float in biggest IPO the City has seen for five years

African mobile payments giant Airtel Money has announced plans to list on the London Stock Exchange at a valuation of up to £6.7bn, in what would be London's largest IPO since fintech Wise floated in 2021. The company, ultimately controlled by Indian billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal, serves 53 million monthly active users across 13 sub-Saharan African countries. A prospectus is expected in early October, with a final offer price due in mid-October after book-building.
Airtel Money plans to raise around $800m from the float, with only existing shares sold — no new capital will be raised.
The listing is a rare boost for a struggling London market that has lost a string of companies to New York, with just seven firms listing in London this year raising a combined £577m.
The International Finance Corporation has signed a cornerstone agreement with Airtel Money ahead of the IPO, signalling institutional confidence in the float.
