Alabama man told court 'kill him' after allegedly decapitating grandmother and aunt with a chainsaw
Thomas Henry Steele, charged with capital murder after the decapitated bodies of his grandmother and aunt were found in their home, had been off his lithium medication at the time of the killings.Christy Deloach, 65, had called 911 hours before her death warning that her nephew Thomas Henry Steele was off his lithium medication.
Thomas Steele, 47, is facing two counts of capital murder after police found his grandmother Dora Boone, 85, and aunt Christy Deloach, 65, beheaded inside their Mobile, Alabama home on Monday. Steele was found waiting outside, smiling, and his mugshot shows the same disturbing grin. At his bond hearing he was denied bail and a judge ordered a competency examination.
The murders came hours after Deloach herself called 911 saying Steele was off his lithium, adding: 'He's calm — not violent or anything.'
When a judge appointed public defender Glenn Davidson to represent him, Steele's two-word reply was: 'Kill him.'
Davidson said he cannot rule out a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity plea, telling reporters: 'It was really apparent from the outset that he had mental issues.'
