Republican Senator Dan S Sullivan shares the 3 November ballot with retired teacher Daniel J Sullivan Jr, dubbed 'Decoy Dan' by critics. That second Sullivan is registered Republican but admits voting Democrat. The lawsuit seeks to block certification if Decoy Dan's votes would have handed the incumbent victory over Democrat Mary Peltola. President Donald Trump said: 'I'm the one who said do it.'

Attorney General Todd Blanche said of the second candidate: 'There could be a crime.'

Trump hit back, branding Murkowski 'The Republicans' Worst Senator' and a 'DISGRACE'.
