Albanian man who raped girl, 17, in Leicester pub toilet is jailed after he was caught running a red light

Pandeli Dervishi, 24, of no fixed abode, spent two months evading justice after raping a 17-year-old girl in the men's toilet of The Soar Point pub in Leicester city centre on 1 October 2025. The Albanian national was eventually detained after a Surrey Police officer stopped him for going through a red light in Guildford, at the wheel of a white Mazda, in the early hours of 16 April. Leicester Crown Court sentenced him to seven years and six months on Thursday following a jury's guilty verdict on the rape charge.
The girl, who had been out drinking with her cousin and friends, was grabbed by the wrist and pulled into the men's toilets, where she was pressured into performing oral sex.
Police released Dervishi on bail while they assembled CCTV and forensic evidence, but he failed to appear as required and was listed as wanted on the Police National Computer.
