Alton Towers permanently closed the £18 million World of David Walliams zone on Tuesday 3 November 2026, with Merlin Entertainments pointing to a scheduled seasonal assessment of its rides and attractions. The closure comes after HarperCollins dropped Walliams in December 2025 following an inquiry into allegations that he had "harassed" young women. Plans for the site's future use will be announced once confirmed.

The shuttered zone included Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp, the Royal Carousel, Raj's Shop and The Burger Kitchen.

HarperCollins announced in September it would phase out remaining stock of his books — all 23 titles have since vanished from its website.

Walliams strongly denies all allegations and says he was never informed of any investigation or given the chance to answer questions.
