Amazon to hire 30,000 young Britons by 2030 with no experience needed, ahead of Budget amid youth unemployment crisis

Amazon is pushing ahead with a pledge to create 30,000 jobs for young people in Britain by 2030, with roles starting at £15.10 an hour, as the announcement lands days before the Budget and with youth joblessness approaching a million. They target 18 to 24-year-olds from Britain's most deprived areas. Most are picking, packing and shipping jobs across Amazon's network of more than 100 UK sites. UK country manager John Boumphrey said applicants need 'just a great attitude and a willingness to learn', and the firm is also trebling work experience places to 10,000 by 2030.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham called youth joblessness an 'economic catastrophe and moral failure'.

Bosses say hiring costs soared after Rachel Reeves' 2024 national insurance raid.

Chancellor John Healey ruled out a feared warehouse tax on Amazon last week.
