Outside court, Flynn's mother Kim sobbed and pointed the finger at the media for the guilty verdict, insisting 'it was all circumstantial junk' — yet the Miami County jury needed only two hours and thirty minutes to find Caleb Flynn, 40, guilty on all counts. Prosecutors established that he shot Ashley Flynn dead as she slept at the couple's Tipp City, Ohio home in February, with the pair's daughters, then aged nine and eleven, elsewhere in the house. Flynn wept and shook as each verdict was read, then was led from the courtroom in handcuffs after his bond was revoked. Sentencing is scheduled for October 5, when he will face the possibility of life in prison without parole.
In the weeks before Flynn shot her dead while she slept, Ashley had saved a disturbing image on her phone.
Flynn staged a fake break-in and made a frantic 911 call in which he claimed a burglar had killed Ashley — prosecutors argued he carried out the killing to hide a long-running affair with a colleague from his church worship team.
His lead attorney Patrick Mulligan said he 'fully anticipates' an appeal will be filed and the conviction will be 'tested thoroughly' in the Court of Appeals.
