Americans who fled Trump's America for Europe now regret it, with one woman in Britain saying NHS care is 'not free'

A woman known as Annie relocated to a town on London's outskirts in late 2024 when her husband received an unexpected job offer. She was pregnant with her first child at the time and found NHS maternity care a struggle, noting that she pays "huge amounts of taxes and an immigration surcharge" for it. She and her husband are now planning to return home next summer, the earliest point their employers will permit.

Annie says Britain's quality of life is "significantly lower than in the US".

She says dishwashers and dryers are treated as luxuries in Britain, but are common back home.

She claims colleagues felt "so comfortable mocking my accent and culture" at work.
