Amy Dowden returns to Strictly dancefloor to replace Delta Goodrem, who broke a rib while topping the leaderboard
Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington, who topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard for a second consecutive week with 33 points, before a rib injury forced her out of Icons Week.Delta Goodrem addresses her absence on Instagram, saying she will be "cheering everyone on from my couch on Saturday night" as the BBC confirmed she will progress automatically to the following week.
Delta Goodrem was dancing on a broken rib when she and Kai Widdrington scored 33 points for their salsa and topped the leaderboard last Saturday. Amy Dowden, eliminated earlier in the 2026 series with Chris Appleton, will partner Kai this weekend, reportedly dancing to Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' during Icons Week. Delta posted a recovery photo from her sofa on Wednesday, saying 'not the start to the week I'd hoped for', and must be cleared to return by next Monday or face withdrawal from the competition.
Delta, 41, was taken to A&E last weekend, with doctors ordering rest and upright sleeping to aid her broken rib.
Strictly pro Jowita said she believes Delta 'will be fine next week' — adding 'she is a fighter and will be back stronger than ever'.
If Delta cannot resume training by next Monday, Strictly rules require her to withdraw from the competition entirely.
