Andy Burnham opens the door to a return of EU free movement as he calls for an 'honest discussion'
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage branded it 'a total betrayal of Brexit Britain' and vowed: 'We will fight this dishonesty.' Prime Minister Andy Burnham argued EU-era migration was 'revolving door', mostly younger people who came for a few years and went home. He is weighing full EU membership or joining the single market, either of which would require free movement. Labour's 2024 manifesto ruled all of that out.
Shadow home secretary Chris Philp insisted there could be 'no return' to free movement.
Burnham is due to meet EU chiefs in Brussels on November 20.
He also lamented losing access to Eurodac, the EU's biometric migration database.
