Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, try their hand at the steel drum in St John's, Antigua, after attending Chogm, where Burnham said his government had been pursuing closer ties with Europe to drive down living costs.Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he would have won "IN A LANDSLIDE" had he been on the ballot, as Democrats took Senate seats in former Republican strongholds including Texas, Kansas and South Carolina.
Speaking from the Commonwealth summit in Antigua, Burnham urged Trump to "resolve" the Iran war, saying he cannot bring UK living costs down until the Middle East conflict ends and the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened.
Burnham's remarks drew fury online, with one critic writing: 'The world can focus on cost of living, says the man who's been in charge of ours for 100 days.'
Democrats won Senate seats in former Republican strongholds including Texas, Kansas and South Carolina, and retook the House for the first time since 2023.
Trump told Fox News the results surprised him, saying 'I thought they'd do better', but posted on Truth Social that he would have won 'IN A LANDSLIDE' had he been on the ballot.
