Andy Burnham is to become the first prime minister on Gogglebox tonight, talking crisps with Steve Rotheram in No 10

In the trailer, Andy Burnham offers Steve Rotheram a selection of Skips, pork scratchings, bacon fries and Twiglets over a beer, declaring 'Twiglets are probably the best'. Rotheram, the Liverpool mayor, opts for Skips but fails to catch the packet when it is tossed to him. The Stand Up To Cancer special was filmed in the Downing Street flat and airs on Channel 4 at 9.05pm, with the Sugababes and Joe Lycett also featuring.

Labour has had Gogglebox guests before Burnham: Jeremy Corbyn appeared on the show in 2017.

Downing Street has declined to say which programmes the pair watched ahead of Friday night.

One critic has described the crisp chat as 'a slap in the face' amid the cost-of-living crisis.
