Angela Scanlon takes over Sara Cox's Radio 2 Drivetime slot from November after summer audition

Angela Scanlon will host BBC Radio 2's Drivetime show from November, replacing Sara Cox in the weekdays 4-7pm slot. Cox announced the news live on her own Breakfast Show on Monday morning, welcoming Scanlon to 'the Radio 2 daytime family.' Scanlon admitted she 'squealed' when she got the call and said guest-hosting the slot over the summer had felt like 'a live audition' for the role.

Cox moved to the Radio 2 Breakfast Show earlier this year after Scott Mills was sacked, creating the vacancy Scanlon now fills.

Scanlon has been a Radio 2 guest presenter for eight years and previously succeeded Graham Norton in the Weekend Breakfast slot on Virgin Radio UK.

The station also announced who will take over its country show following Bob Harris's departure.
