Angry Anderson, the shaven-headed Australian rock legend who inspired Guns N' Roses and whose ballad 'Suddenly' was watched by 20 million UK viewers during the 1987 Scott and Charlene wedding in Neighbours, died on Monday 21 September 2026 surrounded by family in Australia. He was 79, and had suffered a cardiac arrest weeks earlier while on Rose Tattoo's farewell tour in Germany. His bandmates' tribute closed with the words: 'Stay young, grow strong.'

Jason Donovan led the tributes, calling Anderson a 'legend' and 'another great Australian' on Instagram.

'Suddenly' reached number three in the UK charts — Kylie Minogue herself was 'adamant' it be used for the wedding scene.

Anderson's life was marked by personal tragedy: his son Liam, 26, was bashed to death in a Sydney park in 2018, and Anderson told a court 'part of me died with him.'
