Ann Widdecombe's Dartmoor bungalow where she was murdered goes on the market for £900,000, four months after her death

The five-bedroom detached bungalow in Haytor Vale, Devon — named 'Widdecombe's Rest' — is listed with Knight Frank at £900,000, a 50 per cent premium on the £600,000 Ann Widdecombe paid for it in 2008. Joshua Kerry, 28, of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has been charged in connection with the July attack, in which the 78-year-old Reform UK politician was struck 21 times with a hammer and found dead on her kitchen floor by her gardener. The estate agents' brochure carries a legally required note disclosing that 'a significant event occurred at the property in 2026, involving the unlawful death of an occupant.' Her death prompted an urgent review of security for politicians and public figures.
The property boasts five reception rooms, three bathrooms, a swimming pool — reportedly funded by Widdecombe's Strictly Come Dancing appearance with Anton du Beke — stables and sweeping Dartmoor views.
Large wooden gates and a padlock were installed at the entrance after the crime scene attracted selfie-seekers following the murder.
The home had featured on Quest TV's 'Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House' in 2022; the episode was re-screened just five days before Widdecombe was found dead.
