Bradley Walsh, whose one-off quiz event launches Sunday, with players staking their own cash on general knowledge questions before risking winnings for a £1m jackpot.

Bradley Walsh's 'Million Pound Shot', launching on Channel 4 this Sunday at 9pm, will see three contestants bring their own bank cards and stake real cash on general knowledge answers, in what the broadcaster bills as a UK television first. Walsh, 66, says players can win Bet Balls with a monetary value and then choose to cash out or fire them into the Million Pound Shot Machine for the £1m jackpot.

Nick Harvey of the Coalition to End Gambling Ads called it 'nothing more than gambling dressed up as a gameshow.'

Walsh promises further twists beyond the own-money format, warning: 'This is not a game for the faint-hearted.'

Some fans remain convinced the whole show is an elaborate hoax, citing production company KEO Films' history of documentary stunts.
