Anti-gambling campaigners say Bradley Walsh's new show is 'gambling dressed up as a gameshow' because players bet their OWN cash

Nick Harvey of the Coalition to End Gambling Ads called 'Million Pound Shot' "nothing more than gambling dressed up as a gameshow," as anti-gambling charities demanded Channel 4 take care of contestants' mental well-being. Bradley Walsh's one-off quiz event launches on Sunday 1 November, with players bringing their own bank cards to stake real cash on general knowledge questions. Walsh, 66, insists the format is "unlike anything we've seen on British TV before."

Contestants can win 'Bet Balls' with a cash value, then choose to pocket the money or risk it in the Million Pound Shot Machine for a £1m jackpot.

Walsh appeared in a trailer without showing any contestants or explaining the rules, sparking online speculation that the entire show is a 'hoax.'

'This is not a game for the faint-hearted,' Walsh warned, adding players must be 'cool, calm and willing to take a risk' with their own cold hard cash.
