Apple's HomeView smart display uses a camera to recognise up to six household members, showing each person only their own messages and data.
Apple has entered the smart home display market with the HomeView, a 7-inch square Liquid Retina touchscreen that uses facial recognition to deliver a personalised experience for up to six household members. Preorders are open now ahead of a November 13 launch in eight countries including the US and UK. The device is powered by Apple's Siri AI and requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone or iPad for the full experience.
HomeView starts at $299 in two versions — a tabletop speaker-base model and a wall-mounted display-only version — both priced identically.
The launch also includes an updated Apple TV 4K with an A19 chip, and a HomePod mini 2 starting at $149, as Apple overhauls its entire home ecosystem.
HomeView will not be available in the EU at launch because Siri AI is not yet available on iPhones and iPads there, with Apple saying it is 'working constructively with the EU'.
