Vincent Lorenzo Fiordilino, whose blood was declared "too acidic" to revive, was found alive by medical examiner staff more than five hours after being pronounced dead.

Gilbert police have referred the case to the Arizona Attorney General's Office, asking prosecutors to weigh felony child abuse charges against the doctor who pronounced 18-month-old Vincent Lorenzo Fiordilino dead. His mother, Alexus Fiordilino, says staff at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center dismissed his breathing as 'normal'. Vincent was discovered alive more than five hours later and now has extensive brain damage.

Vincent was found face down in a family pool at a Super Bowl Sunday party on February 8.

Alexus says Dr Aryan Toosi told her the boy's blood was 'too acidic' before calling time.

Family attorney John Brewer says they will sue both the hospital and the doctor.
