Armed father kills teen gunman who shot THREE children dead at Oregon elementary school

Three children and one adult were killed when a 16-year-old opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Thursday afternoon. Police arrived within two minutes of the first 911 call, but an armed bystander — believed to be a father at the scene — is credited with shooting the teenage gunman dead before officers could act. Two further victims were rushed to hospital.

Silver Rail serves around 450 children aged five to 11; the attack began at 12.59pm, roughly an hour before the school day was due to end.

Congresswoman Janelle Bynum halted all campaign activity, saying: 'Our babies are supposed to do arts and crafts at school, not use their desks as cover from gunfire.'

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed Portland agents are assisting local police; the shooter's identity and motive remain under investigation.
