Armenian deputies brawl on the floor of the National Assembly chamber as Speaker Ruben Rubinyan refused to cut the live broadcast, declaring he wanted all Armenians to see the scenes unfold.

The brawl broke out during a debate on the Audit Chamber appointment after ruling Civil Contract MP Taron Chakhoyan accused opposition leader Narek Karapetyan of corruption and ridiculed his cousin's podcast demand for a state body to guarantee "no unsatisfied women" remain in Armenia.

Deputy speaker Vahagn Aleksanyan threw a chair toward the opposition benches as MPs upended tables and flung plastic bottles at one another.

Speaker Ruben Rubinyan declined to cut the live broadcast, saying he wanted voters to see for themselves how their elected representatives were conducting themselves.

Karapetyan shrugged off the violence as "a normal Armenian-style man-to-man fight", saying opponents "got it right in the mouth — and got it good."
