Around 40 are arrested in Paris as up to 140,000 are expected to protest across France over high prices and inequality

Police say most arrests involved people carrying weapons or banned protective gear. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu says more than 900 officers have been injured since the unrest began. Protesters in hi-vis vests have blocked streets, and bins were set alight in Marseille. The movement began in Paris's poor northern suburbs, where high school students walked out last month over teacher absences.
