Audi will build its first US factory in Georgia after Trump unveiled the $4bn plan at a midterm campaign rally

'Without tariffs, they would not have been coming in,' President Donald Trump told a crowd in Perry, Georgia, crediting his trade war. Audi chief executive Gernot Döllner joined him on stage to confirm the Macon plant will build 200,000 SUVs a year and create about 4,500 jobs. The Q7, Q8 and Q9 will move partly from Bratislava in Slovakia. Full production is not expected until 2031.
Volkswagen says Trump's tariffs cost it up to €5bn a year.
Audi currently imports every car it sells in America from Europe or Mexico.
Trump told Audi: 'We can do something with you' because it builds in America.
