Australia's Parliament resumed under enhanced security after federal MP Helen Haines was critically injured in last week's attack. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the increasing 'rage and aggression' as members paid tribute to her.

On regaining consciousness, Haines said her immediate concern was for the bystanders who had come to her aid.

She has expressed gratitude to the first responders who reached her moments after the attack.
