Childcare rapist dubbed Australia's 'worst paedophile' is extradited to face 202 MORE charges involving 23 girls
Ashley Paul Griffith, 48, already serving life in Queensland after pleading guilty to 307 child sexual offences against nearly 70 victims, was transferred across the NSW border at 8am on Wednesday to face 202 additional charges. Those charges relate to alleged offences against 23 girls as young as 10 at a Sydney childcare centre between 2014 and 2017. He was publicly filmed for the first time since his 2022 arrest during the handover at Tweed Heads.
Queensland Corrections Minister Laura Gerber said: 'He is a monster — I hope he hits every pothole on the way.'
Griffith was caged in grey metal and unbreakable glass in the back of an unmarked van for the transfer; he has yet to enter a plea on the new charges.
In 2022, police raided his Gold Coast home and seized more than 4,000 child abuse images and videos.
