Australian Bachelor star Sam Wood, is accused of strangling his wife, is denied bail after the court hears of 'party lifestyle'

Justice Patrick McCafferty refused bail to Sam Wood, 46, finding the former Australian Bachelor contestant had not proven he would not pose a risk to the safety of others, commit further offences or interfere with witnesses. The court heard Wood allegedly told wife Snezana and stepdaughter Eve Markoski-Wood, 21, that they "can both die" before the October 3 attack at their $3,000-a-night Noosa apartment. His lawyer revealed the couple are now expected to separate.
Wood allegedly grabbed Snezana by the throat, pushed her to the floor and continued choking her until she 'couldn't breathe' and 'could not yell for help'.
The court also heard allegations of a previous choking incident in 2021, drug use and a 'party lifestyle' in the month before the attack.
Wood has been held at Brisbane's Wolston Correctional Centre since his arrest and did not appear at Friday's Supreme Court hearing in person or by video link.
