John-Jo Lynch, 24, of Springfield Road in Belfast, was remanded in custody after appearing at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with shooting taxi driver Sean O'Reilly twice in the Bell Steel Manor area on 23 February 2025. Lynch was also charged with two counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life. Lynch was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday following a PSNI appeal for information and was held under the Terrorism Act.

The bail application made on Lynch's behalf was refused, with the judge citing a risk of reoffending and a risk to public safety due to his access to weapons.

The shooting is linked to a dissident republican feud, according to court reporting.
