Australian mushroom killer Erin Patterson loses her appeal and is ordered NEVER to be released from prison
Erin Patterson, the 52-year-old Australian woman who served death cap mushroom beef Wellingtons to her in-laws at a July 2023 lunch, has had her murder convictions upheld by Victoria's Court of Appeal — and now faces dying behind bars.
Three judges stripped the 33-year non-parole period Justice Christopher Beale had set, ruling that Patterson should never be eligible for release.
Patterson had argued a "substantial miscarriage of justice" after jurors and the lead detective were housed in the same hotel during her trial.
She has few remaining legal avenues after the ruling, with both her conviction appeal and her bid to reduce her sentence comprehensively rejected.
