One Nation's Luke Herdegen has seized the Western Australian state seat of Secret Harbour with 57 per cent of the two-candidate-preferred vote, handing Pauline Hanson's party its first lower-house seat in WA and triggering a political shockwave across Australia. Labor's primary vote collapsed from 46 per cent to just 24 per cent, while One Nation surged from 9 per cent to 39 per cent — an extraordinary 30-point gain since the 2025 state election. Albanese was then mocked for attacking One Nation at the Queensland Labor conference the following day, warning that 'hard right populists are on the march' rather than addressing why safe Labor territory had just been lost.

'No safe Labor seats in this state or this country anymore,' declared One Nation's WA leader Rod Caddies as he claimed victory.

One Nation's Barnaby Joyce said former Labor voters now 'find it easy to make the jump to One Nation' as 'politics has changed'.

The result follows One Nation also winning the federal seat of Farrer, where the Coalition had held the electorate for its entire 77-year history.
