Australian PM Anthony Albanese insists his office's 'dirt file' on Helen Haines contained 'no personal criticism' as she recovers

Trudy McIntosh, the journalist who received the briefing, said "that's not how it was handed around" by Albanese's staff. The file circulated last month after Haines questioned a $6 million grant to Marrickville Golf Club. It included suggestions of undisclosed gifts and conflicts of interest. Nationals senator Bridget McKenzie said metadata reportedly shows it was created on the Prime Minister's department IT system.

Albanese told ABC Radio the file was just 'a list of funding asks' from Haines.

Senior official Pauline Sullivan told senators it was the first she'd heard of the metadata.

Haines lost both legs when a LandCruiser struck her outside her Wangaratta office.
