Australian TV reporter covering Queensland floods swims out to save a driver from his sinking car moments before it went under

ABC reporter Will Murray and another man swam to the stalled ute on Buchanan Road in Morayfield, north of Brisbane, on Thursday. The passenger door would not budge. Just before the roof slipped beneath the surface, they forced the driver-side door open enough for the man to escape. The three hugged in the water and swam to dry road.

Some 170 millimetres of rain fell in three hours across the Moreton Bay area.

The driver said he never saw the flood warning sign and didn't expect such deep water.

Murray's plea afterwards: 'Please don't drive into floodwaters.'
