Authorities find the truck stolen by an escaped Tennessee killer abandoned in Illinois as a multi-state manhunt continues

Jacob Morley, 28, a convicted murderer serving a life sentence, broke out of the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee, on Sunday night by cutting through the perimeter fence, still dressed in his prison uniform. Surveillance footage showed him stealing a white 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck from a spot roughly two miles from the facility at around 1 a.m. Monday. The truck was found abandoned in Marion, Illinois, on Tuesday morning, but Morley remains at large, with the US Marshals Service and Illinois State Police now involved in the manhunt.

Morley is serving a life sentence for the murder of Cody Birchfield, whose body he buried under his own house.

Diana Reid, a close friend of victim Birchfield, warns: 'I believe he's extremely dangerous and I'm genuinely concerned someone else could end up hurt.'

A retired FBI special agent says the location of the abandoned truck may reveal clues about Morley's likely next move.
