BA jet with 256 passengers has a 'near miss' with a 'UFO' the 'size of four toasters' after leaving Heathrow

The crew described the object as metallic, reflective and probably silver.

The object was travelling in the opposite direction to the climbing jet as it passed.

The flight carried on to New York and landed safely.

The shiny silver object shot past no more than 50ft above the Boeing 777-300ER's right wing as it climbed through 5,800ft over Guildford, Surrey, on June 24. The pilot radioed London Terminal Control Centre to report a drone moving 'very fast'. The UK Airprox Board could not determine what the object was. It concluded that 'providence had played a major part'.
